Adoption Timeline

  • February 14, 2011 - Submitted application for international adoption to AGCI
  • February 17, 2011 - Made the decision to pursue Bulgaria
  • March 3, 2011 - Orientation call
  • March 7, 2011 - Paperwork and contracts submitted to AGCI
  • March 8, 2011 - Decided to use Children's Connections as our home study agency
  • March 17, 2011 - First call with our caseworker SooJin
  • March 18, 2011 - Fingerprints submitted to FBI for background check/Paperwork collection begins
  • March 29, 2011 - Medical appointments
  • April 6, 2011 - All home study paperwork submitted
  • April 12, 2011 - First home visit for homestudy
  • April 13, 2011 - Adoption training finished
  • April 14, 2011 - Second home visit for homestudy
  • April 18, 2011 - Patrick's FBI clearance comes back; mine has to be redone (prints could not be read)
  • April 20, 2011 - Courtney sends off her fingerprints (again). Come on FBI!
  • April 26, 2011 - Home Study submitted for review
  • June 1, 2011  - Courtney's FBI clearance is on its way!
  • June 4, 2011 - Received Courtney's FBI clearance (Hallelujah!)
  • June 14, 2011 - Overnighted I-800A to NBC
  • July 12, 2011 - USCIS fingerprinting appointment
  • August 11, 2011 - NBC (USCIS) fingerprint approval
  • August 18, 2011 - All documents apostilled . . . Dossier is finished!
  • August 26, 2011 - Dossier on its way to Bulgaria! :)
  • Early to Mid September - registered with the Ministry of Justice
  • February 14, 2012 - One year since applying to AGCI
  • April 9, 2012 - Began Homestudy update
  • June 5, 2012 - Received Homestudy update approval/Time to start NBC updates
  • July 23, 2012 - Sent off updated I800-A (supplement 1)
  • August 17, 2012 - Biometrics update with NBC
  • September 6, 2012 - Received NBC Biometrics Approval
  • September 11, 2012 - Got Home study update and biometrics apostilled and sent to our agency
  • Mid September - Registered one year with the MOJ in Bulgaria!
  • February 14, 2013 - Two years since applying to AGCI
  • April/May 2013 - Began home study update number two
  • April 18, 2013 - ink fingerprints sent to the FBI
